Improvisations

In the long history of humankind those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.
Charles Darwin
I got my new hot head torch a while ago ... and have been working out a way to set up my studio (garage) to enable the best use of this new tool.  The location of my work bench wasn't suitable (apart from the mess), there wasn't adequate air flow - and setting up and pulling apart market tables was inconvenient, so a permanent solution was called for.

I have long yearned for a butchers block just because I like them, however after a recent visit to (dare I say it!) Ikea ... I found what I was looking for.  After an hours work of putting together the bench, my hothead is was set up ~ I then made the bracket to support the torch and the best thing is I can tuck away the bench when not in use!

Stay tuned for the next part of this adventure!

Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) - 2nd place!

I'm so excited - Tzigane won second place at the Royal Queensland Show (otherwise known as the Ekka).  What a surprise to find out that I had won second place in Bead Art - Wearable Jewellery, especially as it was the first competition I have entered.  Thank you everyone for your support and to my dear friends who have encouraged me along the way. xo

Loom Cuff Swap Finale - Part 2 ... the Big Reveal

One of the simple pleasures in life is admiring other artists work.  I recently had this pleasure whilst participating in a "loomed cuff swap".  It was with utter delight that I opened the package to find this stunning set enclosed ... thank you Sandra, your work is exquisite and the sentiment behind the cuff I will treasure xo

So ... I'll let the pictures tell the story!

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
of beauty rich and rare
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

Week one over and we're fairing reasonably well on the medal tally, lets see what week two brings, in the meantime - I will continue to wear my cuff in honour of those representing us in London!

Loomed Cuff Swap Finale - Part 1

The grand finale for the swap cuff is near ... you may recall the butterfly wings pattern I posted a little while ago, this is where the fun begins ... the big reveal of the completed cuffs.  The cuff has been posted and I await anxiously to hear if my swap buddy likes it ...

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.
