In the long history of humankind those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.

I got my new hot head torch a while ago ... and have been working out a way to set up my studio (garage) to enable the best use of this new tool.  The location of my work bench wasn't suitable (apart from the mess), there wasn't adequate air flow - and setting up and pulling apart market tables was inconvenient, so a permanent solution was called for.

I have long yearned for a butchers block just because I like them, however after a recent visit to (dare I say it!) Ikea ... I found what I was looking for.  After an hours work of putting together the bench, my hothead is was set up ~ I then made the bracket to support the torch and the best thing is I can tuck away the bench when not in use!

Stay tuned for the next part of this adventure!

  1. Hi Caron,
Congrats on your set up! I love it when a 'a plan come together'! I too and trying to set up in my garage for metalsmithing. Do you have heating and A/C?

  2. Oh boy! that looks like fun :) I have yet to do metal work as I have kids and I worry about them getting their hands on my tools! But I would love to try this

  3. Thanks Patricia ~ this is a set up for enamelling. I have neither a/c or heating, but it doesn't get that cold here in winter - and I have the garage door open in the warmer months and a fan for ventilation.

  4. Thanks Antiquity ~ I understand, I wouldnt have been able to do this a few years ago either. However a portable set up like this could do the trick for you?

  5. Wooo Hooo! How very exciting! I love my 'little dragon' HotHead torch. The butcher's block is a wonderful solution - pratical and good looking, too!

I'm very excited to share your enamelling adventures!
    ((hugs)) xx

  6. I'm having serious "set-up" envy, sister loomie. Can't wait to see what you create!!

  7. Thanks Ness and Sandy - having a blast - will share soon :)

Thank you so much for taking the time and stopping by my blog. Your thoughts are appreciated. x
