With the Olympics under way and inspired by the beautifully choreographed opening ceremony and our Aussie team already doing as proud in a range of events ... I have finally got myself organised and started on my Australian Flag cuff.
The Australian Flag is symbolic of our heritage and representation of our early settlers - the Union Jack represents the Cross of St George for England, The Cross of St Andrew for Scotland and The Cross of St Patrick for Ireland. The Australian Blue Ensign is emblazoned with five stars that form the Southern Cross and a sixth to represent the Commonwealth of Australia.
This cuff has been on my mind for a long time, with the planning and development of the pattern a few weeks ago, I'm really pleased to be in the finishing stages and to be able to share with you what is on my loom ....
I love this design!! Those diagonal lines can be tough, but you nailed it! I see you are using blue warps. Great idea and it doesn't even mess with the red or white. You made the right call there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece of jewellery this will be, I bet you will have lots of requests for this one!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it finished!
I hope you enjoy the London Olympics, too!
Thanks Erin - I had to play around with this pattern and even transcribing it from pattern to loom I notice a different effect with those stripes and may make a slight moderation if re-doing. Your attention to detail never ceases to amaze, the beads are silver lined so it has a nice sheen and will catch the eye!
ReplyDeleteOh Nessie, I hope so! Thank you so much, you won't have long to wait. The games are fabulous so far, certainly brings you much closer to us!
